I was born in rural North Carolina to Chi-Ying Cann, my hero. I was a precocious weirdo kid - in middle school I read my first high fantasy series (The Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind) and wrote & illustrated my first zine (it was about aliens).

I received my BFA in art education with a painting focus at UNC Greensboro in 2011. Following internships at Elsewhere Artist Collaborative and The Mint Museum, I lived in Boston while working at the Cambridge Community Center in youth work, marketing, and fund development. While at the Center I taught a summer-long street art workshop for middle schoolers, and I designed and ran a Minecraft program, teaching youth digital citizenship, design, coding, & all sorts of stuff. I gave a seminar about this program at the Cambridge Agenda for Children Out of School Time Symposium called How to Use Minecraft to Teach Everything: Video Games in Curricula.

I relocated to Charlotte, NC in 2016 and currently make stuff out of my home in NoDa.
